The ABC is overhauling its 6pm timeslot with an internally-produced nightly cooking show A Bite To Eat with Alice.

Hosted by cook, author, columnist, radio presenter and News Breakfast foodie, Alice Zaslavsky, A Bite To Eat with Alice will focus on recipes that are simple and fresh, built around accessible and affordable ingredients that can be prepared at home to inspire Australian audiences to feel more confident in the kitchen.

Each episode will feature a guest from all walks of life and skill levels including actress Pia Miranda, comedian Dilruk Jayasinha, singer-songwriter Anthony Callea and Australian food icon Stephanie Alexander.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing Australian households even more inspiration in the kitchen and in life, welcoming some of Australia’s most interesting people into Southbank’s Studio 32. This program’s pillars, of sustainability, accessibility, and authentic connection, will provide warm and wonder-filled viewing, weeknights at 6.”

There are 50 x 30 min eps produced in Melbourne.

According to ABC this continues ABC’s “proud tradition of producing quality cooking shows that remain useful to audiences to this day. From Maggie Beer and Simon Bryant’s The Cook & The Chef to Poh’s Kitchen.”

ABC is yet to confirm any programming changes for Antiques Roadshow, which currently screens 5:30 – 6:30pm.

Alice will kickstart each episode with a recipe inspired by her special guest. Then her guest arrives, bringing in one of their favourite ingredients for Alice to turn into something delicious, showing those at home how easy it is to get dinner on the table with ingredients on hand. Finally, Alice faces a challenge to change the guest’s mind about an ingredient they don’t enjoy or are unsure how to cook, or to help them with a food-related issue.

Production Credits: A Bite To Eat with Alice is an original format developed and commissioned by the ABC. Executive Producers: Rachel Robinson & Mish Armstrong, Series Producer: Jacqueline Tonks. International Distributor: ABC Commercial. Host: Alice Zaslavsky.

Weeknights 6pm from Monday, 28 October on ABC (all episodes on iview).
