A 77-year-old man has been charged for allegedly keying a Tesla at a Woolworths carpark.

David Shannon was parked at the shopping centre on Crawford Street in Queanbeyan, near the Australian Capital Territory border, last Thursday.

He filmed a man walking past his car and dragging his key across the side.

A disabled park sign was seen in front of the car, but the arrow indicated to the spot next to the Tesla.

“To clarify, I’m not in a disabled park,” Shannon wrote in a social media post.

“This is not going to be a cheap fix and I’d love the opportunity to ask him nicely what drove him to do this.”

Police began an investigation, which led them to a home nearby.

There, they charged the 77-year-old man with destroying or damaging property.

He was issued a field court attendance notice to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on November 11.
