Kings Cross businessman John Ibrahim can be revealed as the target of an alleged foiled assassination attempt in Sydney’s east two months ago, after two men were seen allegedly carrying guns outside his home.

Yousif Zrayka, 20, and Siaosi Maeakafa Tupoulahi, 24, were allegedly seen driving through George Street, Dover Heights, in a Cupra SUV while wearing balaclavas and armed with a gun on July 26.

During the ordeal, Tupoulahi allegedly pointed a pistol through a window of the wrong SUV, terrifying a woman and her child.

A Sydney court heard today that the alleged plot was well-planned but poorly executed.

The two men have been charged with conspiracy to murder the former nightclub owner.

On the day police received reports of two men armed on George Street and rushed to the scene, when the pair allegedly fled.

Zrayka allegedly failed to stop for police, sparking a pursuit through the city’s east and his subsequent arrest.

Police allegedly found two guns, a semi-automatic and a revolver, in the car.

Meanwhile, Tupoulahi allegedly fled on foot before he was found in a backyard on Banksia Road.

Ibrahim previously fought to keep his name out of the public in relation to the alleged murder plot, but ditched the secrecy bid in court today, meaning he can now be named as the alleged target.

Both have been charged with multiple offences, including firearm-related crimes, and stalking.

Tupoulahi was also charged with assaulting police.

Police spoke to Ibrahim after the incident. He has not been accused or suspected of any wrongdoing or involvement whatsoever.
