Health authorities have issued a warning in response to a concerning increase in the number of mpox cases recorded in Victoria.
Since April, about 330 cases have been reported, with 27 people requiring hospitalisation.
The Department of Health warned the outbreak was “now much larger than the 2022 outbreak”.

The department said while mpox has mostly impacted gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, anyone could be affected.
There have now been several cases in women across the state and heterosexual transmission has been reported.
“All sexually active people with compatible symptoms should be tested, regardless of sexual orientation, vaccination status or travel history,” the department said.
“Remain aware of the possibility of mpox infection amongst other groups.”
The mpox vaccine is free for those eligible and is available through more than 250 providers across Victoria.
Doctors can also advise if you need booster shots to catch up on vaccines that have been missed.
