Police have charged a Sydney man with shooting dead an elderly man and burying his corpse.
The case dates back to last month when an 82-year-old man from Leppington, in the city’s south-west, was reported missing.
During the investigation, police identified a 67-year-old man, known to the missing man, who had allegedly told police conflicting information about the incident multiple times.

Following his arrest in Smithfield yesterday, officers raided a property at Upper Colo in the Hawkesbury region, north-west of Sydney, where the body of the 82-year-old is believed to be buried.
Police will continue to search the property today.
The 67-year-old man has been charged with murder, hindering a police investigation and the unlawful disposal of a corpse.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to front court today.
Police will allege in court the two men were known to each other.
Investigations continue.
