Tripe zero calls are going unanswered due to staff shortages within Queensland Police.
A leaked internal police email sent yesterday and obtained by 9News reads: “The Police call centre cannot at the moment keep up with the demand coming in on 000. We are not meeting our obligations to members of the public.”
“In the last 7 days for example, approximately 800 hours of overtime was used, and we still aren’t answering every call.”

Police are consequently pleading with officers on the beat to do extra shifts in the call centre.
The email asked if ”anyone is interested in working overtime at comms … answering triple zero calls …”, adding that it would “only be on 000 – on overtime … all of the time … when it suits you”.
Premier David Crisafulli met with Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski yesterday and said they talked about broader staffing issues.
“There is no doubt that front line police are under more pressure than they’ve ever been,” he said.
