This week on Better Homes & Gardens Johanna meets cooking icon Stephanie Alexander and Graham visits Bonville Golf Club.

Charlie – Design Tricks For The Tiniest Space
No matter what size outdoor space you have, whether a large block or a balcony, you can still have a designer look that won’t break the bank. Creating bespoke gardens to suit the space and the tastes of the owners is what Charlie does best. But he’s going to have to pull out all the stops to transform a small courtyard from a disused and rundown area into a place dripping in plants to sit and relax in. It may be a small courtyard, but it’s a big transformation!

Graham – Bonville Golf Course
Graham continues his Coffs Coast adventures with sun, blue skies and golf. And it doesn’t get any better than at Bonville Golf Club, voted Australia’s favourite course 7 years in a row. But it’s not just the golf this course is famous for. With undulating fairways flanked by endless Flooded Gums, a rainforest, koalas and incredible bird life, Bonville is Australia’s answer to the home of the Masters, Augusta National. Like Augusta, Bonville is also famous for its Azaleas, shrubs and manicured hedges, but the Gymea Lilies and Bottle Brush which attracts flocks of lorikeets, bring a local charm. But you can’t have a golf course without grass, so a few tips for looking after your grass won’t send you off course.

Johanna – Stephanie Alexander At Home
Stephanie Alexander is one of the great doyennes of Australian cooking, having inspired generations of home cooks thanks to books like ‘The Cook’s Companion’, which has sold over half a million copies. On this the 35th anniversary of her kitchen “bible” Joh joins the culinary legend to talk about her legacy, which isn’t just confined to her 19 cookbooks. She is equally proud of her popular Kitchen Garden program that’s run in about 10% of schools across the country, teaching kids the value of food, from growing to eating. But with Joh around, there will be some cooking, so Stephanie shows Joh how to create a delicious spring salad of cauliflower, black barley and preserved lemon.

Colin – Colin’s Ultimate Beef Burger
Everyone loves a good burger, but there’s nothing quite like Colin’s ultimate beef burger. Not surprisingly, the star of this show is the beef patty, and Colin has a recipe for the most delicious patty you’ll have ever tasted. Any great burger though has a tasty sauce and Colin’s sauce is the perfect condiment. Served with fresh produce and brioche buns, this is a burger so good, you might think about opening your own burger shop.

Melissa – Sculptural Art For The Garden
In the historic country town of Castlemaine, situated in the old Victorian goldfields, Melissa has discovered a hidden gem, a very special garden where the vibrant, colourful flowers are always in bloom. That’s because the flowers are actually metal sculptures, made by celebrated artist Peter Gray. Melissa chats to Peter to find out what drives his creativity and gets a peak into his metal-working process. So, if you’d like to bring colour and artistic expression into your garden, some sculptures to complement your plant choices might just do the trick.

Dr Harry – Community Chooks
On the banks of Sydney Harbour, Dr Harry discovers a sustainability project where apartment-living locals can access green space and community gardens. Situated on the site of an old coal loading wharf, a team of volunteers look after the gardens with its own flock of chooks. From providing eggs to supplying compost to go back onto the gardens, they’re the ultimate sustainable animal. Recently they lost a chook, so they’ve asked for Dr Harry’s expert advice to help introduce a new chicken into the flock and ensure the introductions go smoothly.

Adam – DIY Outdoor Table
